Johnny's Fine Foods is conducting a nationwide recall of French dip powder and liquid because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, and others with weakened immune systems. To date there are no known illnesses in connection with the recalled items.

The recall involves the following products:

French Dip Powdered Au Jus –- 6 oz bottle – Exp. Date: 03312

French Dip Powdered Au Jus -- 1.1 oz foil packets – Exp. Date: 02212

The company said the recall was prompted by one of its suppliers, Basic Food Flavors, Inc., which found salmonella in its hydrolyzed vegetable protein. Johnny's uses the protein in its mix.

This product should be destroyed immediately. Consumers with questions can contact the company at 800-962-1462.

If you have a jar of powder which has a code #2581, does that need to be destroyed also? The UPC code is 70381 80068
